Hosted by the Lowe Art Museum, Eric Markow & Thom Norris discuss their 5 year journey through 4 woven glass life-size Kimonos.  They discuss their history of developing their signature woven glass technique and delve into the inspiration and process of creating the seasonal landscape Kimonos that transition through four seasons at different times of day.  The artists presented for approximately 50 min with 20 min for questions & answers following.

Dialogues: Studio Glass from the Florence and Robert Werner Collection

This exhibition at the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami comprises approximately sixty works of stunning contemporary glass from leading practitioners, including Dale Chihuly, Dan Dailey, Michael Glancy, Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova, Linda MacNeil, Dante Marioni, Markow & Norris, Billy Morris, Yoichi Ohira, Tom Patti, Preston Singletary, Therman Statom, Lino Tagliopietra, and Toots Zinsky — all from the world-class collection of Florence and Robert Werner.

This is a rare opportunity to see the “Summer Zenith Kimono” from the Werner’s private collection.

“Dealers relayed positive reactions to their sales, and enjoyed the mix of seasoned collectors and newcomers that visited SOFA over the course of the weekend. Historical and contemporary glass on view in conjunction with the anniversary celebration boosted glass sales. On Opening Night, PISMO Fine Art Glass (Denver) sold the glass kimono Spring Dawn by Markow & Norris for $125,000, and Hawk Galleries (Columbus) sold several glass pieces and William Morris’ life-size bronze Rhyton Bullsculpture for $325,000 over the weekend.”
